Tollgate Partners is comprised of three sisters who have deep roots in agriculture and a passion for protecting the environmental health of our land. We are 5th generation Kern County farmers and ranchers running the business that was started by our family over a hundred years ago. We grew up watching our grandfather take care of his beloved cows. When we were in high school, our Mother took over managing the cattle ranch and her stewardship significantly improved the health of our rangelands, a legacy we are continuing today. In her thirty plus years of running the ranch, we participated in 30 different projects working with the Natural Resources Conservation Service to improve the health and sustainability of our land. In addition to improving the ranch for our cattle, these projects benefit the health of the entire ecosystem, from native grasses to the wildlife that coexists with our steers. For the past 11 years we have participated in the Conservation Stewardship Program where we have concentrated on improving our rotational grazing plan and numerous programs to eradicate invasive species and improve the health of our ranch.

Our cattle are born and raised in the beautiful Tehachapi Mountains. They are a mix of angus and a little brahma to help them survive the heat. They never receive any artificial growth hormones or antibiotics. Our animals never see a feedlot. They roam and happily graze in herds as mother nature intended. We have a great respect for the environment and the cattle that we care for. We also do not use herbicides, pesticides, or commercial fertilizers on our pastures.

All this hard work produces both a healthy animal for consumption as well as a healthy environment for the other critters, soil, water, and future generations. We sincerely consider ourselves stewards of the land and its inhabitants. Sharing food is a way to connect more deeply to neighbors and our community. Our goal is to increase those connections through food that is raised locally and stewarded sustainably.
